The 5th edition of the Voce Spettacolo Film Festival ended on Saturday evening 17 at the Cineteatro Guerrieri in Matera in the presence of illustrious guests and protagonists.
Great success also for the special screening of Walter Nicoletti’s Red Market, winner of Best Drama at the New York Cinematography Awards and which sees the young actor awarded in Hollywood at the Actors Awards and at the Los Angeles Cinematography Awards for Best Supporting Actor.
The film festival, founded and produced by Voce Spettacolo, is founded and directed by Walter Nicoletti and focuses on the discovery of young talents with the aim of promoting the work of film authors from Italy and the rest. of the world. For this fifth edition, works were received from the United States, Canada, France, Mexico, Japan, China, Malta, Australia and Italy.
Numerous national and international celebrities are in the international jury chaired by three-time Oscar winner Jim Rygiel, Supervisor of the Special Effects of The Lord of the Rings. But let’s get to the winners. In the prestigious Best Film category wins La Machetera by Yanet Pavon Bernal, an Italian production for a story inspired by events that really happened in Cuba in 1978. In the Best Short category, the winner is Chinese Laundry by Giorgio Arcelli Fontana, a young Italian director who moved to New York. The short was produced by Academy Award winner James Ivory. Best Web Series is Nuggets by Manuel Zicarelli, actor and director who recently worked in the fiction L’Isola di Pietro with Gianni Morandi and Luigi Lo Cascio in The Ideal City, in competition in Venice in the Horizons section. Best Trailer is Antonia Tong’s Mad Scientists. Best Drone Video is Australia dressed in green by Chris Tangey, a video story of the most significant and fascinating and unspoiled locations of this wonderful land. The director recently worked for Warner Bros (The Bachelor, 2020) and for CNN. For the Best Documentary category we move to Potenza with the victory of La Fortuna Non Esiste, The Story of the Bomber of God by Stefano Tammaro and Edoardo Bellino. A documentary on the life of Carlos Franca, a Brazilian player who left his mark in the three seasons played in Potenza (72 appearances and 39 goals) in Serie D, 2017-2018 season. The Jury Prize goes to Quel Genius of My Friend by Alessandro Sarti. The film, shot entirely in Tuscany, is a fictional story that focuses on a crucial period in the life of the great artist Leonardo da Vinci. For the Best Producer category, Esnedy Milàn Herrera wins for the film La Machetera. The Best Actor award is given to Andrea Galasso for Il Dono by Gaetano Capuano and Giuseppe Ruotolo. The young actor has just returned from the success of Un Posto al Sole having played the rebellious student Maurizio. Ilaria Panteghini wins as best actress for the interpretation of Cetty in the film Rondinella. The Best Director is Domenico De Ceglia, again for the film Rondinella, the story of a group of young people who are confronted with diversity and highlight the emotional and sexual world of each of them. Finally, the Best Editing award goes to Logan’s Professor Alexander Mitev, a Canadian film that analyzes the private life of teachers, who are often seen as role models for children, but who nevertheless hide flaws, secrets and even crimes.
The beauty of the seventh art was the red thread that ran through the entire evening, modulating emotions through the awarding of films, accompanied by attention to national and international cinema. And so the goal was achieved in this fifth edition, that of giving the City of Sassi a weekend dedicated to cinema.
