The teaser trailer for Beetlejuice 2, whose exact title is actually Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, has been released in recent hours. The video that anticipates what we will see in the sequel to the cult film starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara (who are now joined by Ortega for this new act) sees the mythical pig spirit return.

A Beetlejuice 2, a sequel to the dark horror comedy directed by Tim Burton in 1988 and winner of the Academy Award for best makeup, has been talked about from the start. The success of the film-ranked 88th on the American Film Institute’s list of the 100 best American comedies of all time-was such that there was immediate speculation that a second chapter should be made. News of it, however, chased each other for years without ever finding concreteness, and the idea of the long-awaited sequel seemed to have been shelved by then. In 2013, however, confirmation of a new set arrived, and on the subject, the director was clear: he would only go back to work on the bio-exorcist’s story if Michael Keaton agreed to return to the lead role. So it was: Keaton (but also Winona Ryder) agreed to be in it again, and in 2024-a few years later than planned-Beeltejuice’s adventures will return to the big screen.

A star-studded cast among old acquaintances and newcomers
Among the star confirmations, in addition to Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice and Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, is Catherine O’Hara who will return as Delia Deetz (Lydia’s stepmother). The biggest news, however, concerns Jenna Ortega and Willem Dafoe. The young performer of Wednesday, who just on the set dedicated to the little Addams girl has already met Tim Burton who directed her, will give the face to Astrid, Lydia’s daughter.

Willem Dafoe, on the other hand, will be a sort of afterlife police officer. The actor was enthusiastic about his role, which he talked about with Variety: “I’m a police officer in the afterlife, a dead person. In life, however, I was a B-movie action star who disappeared following an accident that sent me to the other side,” he explained, hinting that his character might also have comedic overtones.

The cast also includes Monica Bellucci (currently Tim Burton’s partner) who will be Beetlejuice’s wife and Justin Theroux. The latter’s role has not yet been specified but, since some images from the set showed Jenna Ortega in a wedding dress, it is imagined that the actor may give the face to young Astrid’s love interest or, alternatively, to a second bio-exorcist.
