Daddy, a comedy thriller premiering at Cinequest with additional screenings at the Dances with Film Festival this upcoming June 23rd, 2023, was written and produced by the Michigan born best friend duo Neil and Jono and follows the journey of four potential fathers.
THE DADDY SYNOPSIS:
In a dystopian society where the state determines whether a man is eligible enough to reproduce, four men set off on a government-sanctioned retreat to prove to themselves—and each other—that they have what it takes to become a Daddy. Once on-site, they soon realize this “retreat” leans more towards the lens of an unsupervised experiment. Left to their own devices, they now must learn to navigate the remote mountains of California while discovering if the term, Father’s Day, will ever be used in the foreseeable future.
The cast features Britt Baron (Glow), Yuriy Sardarov (Chicago Fire), Jacqueline Toboni (The L Word), and Pomme Koch (House of Cards), and is produced by Sophia Kalin and Albee Zhang.
THE TEAM:
Middle school BFFs turned film school professionals Jono and Neal graduated from the University of Michigan and have been working on projects alongside Netflix, the Telluride Film Festival, and their own web series CUPS.
